19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after spring of the previous year.
The win also means he has achieved 21 victories at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was over.
Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.
The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a third set.
The opponent rescued four early opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
